This sticker is special because a child from the Batwa tribe in southern Uganda, drew it. The child is an orphan and attends classes at a school that provides a safe home and learning environment for children from the Batwa tribe. The Batwa tribe are climate refugees. A tribe of people displaced from their land due to conservation efforts. From the Miwoks of Yosemite, Maasai of eastern Africa, and Batwa of Uganda, the displacement of native peoples from their homes in the name of conservation is not something we will ignore.
Forced from their way of life, the results of conservation efforts on impacted tribes are that of impoverishment, abandonment, and despair.
